Joint demonstration pairs Larch Hardened SONiC with Teledyne LeCroy’s Xena test and measurement solution to prove performance, reliability and readiness of open AI fabrics.
Larch Networks, a provider of enterprise-grade open networking systems and software, today announced a joint demonstration with Teledyne LeCroy Xena, a leading provider of high-speed Ethernet test and measurement solutions, at the OCP Global Summit. The demonstration showcases how Larch Hardened SONiC delivers production-ready infrastructure for advanced AI fabrics, and how Teledyne LeCroy Xena’s test solutions validate that performance under extreme, realistic AI workloads
As organizations scale open AI back-end fabrics, they require absolute confidence that their network operating systems can handle the strict latency, throughput, and reliability demands of intensive GPU clusters. The joint demonstration directly addresses this by leveraging Teledyne LeCroy’s Xena Z800 Freya traffic generator over an 800G port to generate rigorous AI-style traffic patterns. Using 16 single-flow UDP streams, the tester simulates an 85% capacity stress test.
By generating line-rate traffic, the Xena equipment provides exact, per-flow tracking for transmitted/received packets, sequence errors, and latency. This gives network operators an objective, measurable view of how AI networking features perform under pressure. During the live demonstration of Local Adaptive Routing and Switching (ARS), the Z800 Freya traffic generator verified that the Larch Hardened SONiC fabric dynamically bypassed congestion—reducing packet loss from 4.83% down to near zero (0.0001%) and dropping maximum per-stream latency from 153.2 microseconds to just 6.9 microseconds.
To guarantee this level of enterprise reliability, Larch Networks has built a dedicated SONiC test suite that validates the functionality, performance, stability, and interoperability of Hardened SONiC on supported hardware platforms. Teledyne LeCroy’s Xena solutions are integral to this testing framework, providing repeatable, high-precision measurements that go well beyond generic community SONiC testing. As a result, customers benefit from deploying an open networking stack whose behavior has been rigorously verified with industry-standard test instrumentation long before it reaches a production data center.
OCP Global Summit attendees can view the live demonstration at the Marvell booth at October 13-16th.
